Deer Isle Lily Pond I Oil on canvas. 36" x 36" SOLD
Since my children were infants I've been going to Deer Isle off
the coast of Maine. The first time I went there we bought a house about
50 miles away in Lamoine, Maine, and from then on I visited this lily
pond. I worked for the Haystack Mountain School of Crafts and even after we moved from Lamoine to Portland, Maine, I continued to go to Deer Isle to paint and visit. I have more images of this pond if you are curious. And this summer my son, Sequoia Miller, will be teaching pottery at Haystack from August 31st to September 6th.
My studio in Sausalito, California
In March 2007 I started a blog while waiting for some children to come home from school in Omaha, Nebraska. Check my archives for those humorous essays. Now I'm going to try and stick to art.
I paint every day in my small studio in Sausalito California. Our building used to be a Liberty Ship building site during World War II but for thirty years the ICB Building has been home to about 90 artists. Suddenly we are getting organized and 'going public' with new events, newsletters and more. It's great for location on the Sausalito waterfront and for as much or as little art comraderie as you would like.
I hope to chronicle the progress of my paintings. Each painting sold keeps me from going to work for one more month.
